Trump names DNI Jay Clayton to lead "Super Intelligence Force"President Trump announced Sunday in a social media post that Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton will lead a new federal artificial intelligence task force called the "Super Intelligence Force," the AP reported. FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon chief technology officer Emil Michael and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor are also on the task force, which will report to Trump and chief of staff Susie Wiles, according to the AP. Trump wrote that the task force is "to ensure that America continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence," and TechCrunch reported the group has 120 days to produce a report.
Seven OPEC+ countries keep November output targets unchangedSaudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman agreed Sunday to "maintain September 2026 required production for November 2026," The National reported; CBS News also reported the seven countries' commitment. Their joint quotas total 31 million barrels per day for November and the next meeting will be held Nov. 1, according to The National. The National reported Brent crude settled Friday at $102.25 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate at $91.11.

Planning Commission takes up Princessa Crossroads plan Tuesday, Oct. 6The Santa Clarita Planning Commission will take up the draft Princessa Crossroads Specific Plan on Tuesday, Oct. 6, The Signal reported. The plan covers 146 acres in Canyon Country south of the Santa Clarita Activities Center and north of Golden Valley High School and calls for 300 market-rate apartments on about 8 acres, according to The Signal. It also includes a 1.2-mile road from Via Princessa's current end near Sheldon Avenue to Golden Valley Road, the report said.

Yemen: government leader announces operation to retake Houthi-held territoryRashad al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, announced in a televised address Sunday the start of military operations to retake the remaining territory held by the Houthis, Al Jazeera reported; Times of Israel also reported the announcement.
